VI Locally Grown Market: Week of May 25 2014

Good morning!
Happy Memorial Day Weekend. We are pleased to introduce a new baker to you: Nidulari, who crafts delicious sourdough and whole wheat loaves, baked in a wood fired oven. Nidulari also offers a scrumptious coconut ginger granola as well as a banana ketchup that is guaranteed to please.
This is a week to indulge yourself with high quality tasty baked goods: Divine Delight Delectables is back with muffins and award-winning vegan burgers.
You’ll also find the better-than-usual variety of locally grown fresh produce, herbs, tropical fruit, jams, jellies, chutneys, and blooms. We look forward to seeing you in the courtyard behind Polly’s on Wednesday afternoon!

Please note: Polly’s will be hosting a private event this Wednesday, so the market will have to close a half hour early. We will pack up and be gone by 5:30 pm, so please bear that in mind on Wednesday when you come to pick up your order. We will remind everyone again before Wednesday.

With warm wishes,
Emma Haynes & Your Locally Grown Producers

VI Locally Grown Market: Week of May 18 2014

Good morning!

We are pleased to announce that our market has added a new producer: Queen’s Maubi, whose owner Neil Galloway is likely a familiar face to many. Neil’s Maubi Reloaded juice won second place for the Beverage category in this year’s Taste of St. Croix! Try some this week: it’s like a complex and earthy Caribbean root beer. Queen’s Maubi is also offering a powerful Ginger Beer (nonalcoholic, unless you add the rum yourself): each gallon is crafted with large quantities of fresh ginger.

Of course we have the usual offerings of fresh, naturally grown local produce, fruit, herbs, and flowers. We look forward to your orders, and to seeing you Wednesday afternoon!

with warm wishes,
Emma Haynes & your Locally Grown Producer

Join the Summer CSA!

Dear VI Locally Grown members,

The Summer Community Supported Agriculture program (CSA) will run 14 weeks starting May 17th on St. Croix! This is especially great for Locally Grown customers who find it challenging to make it to Frederiksted on Wednesdays. During the season, we will deliver delicious and nutritious weekly mixed organic produce boxes to Frederiksted (Teres Veho) and Christiansted (Pickled Greek) on Saturdays. Thursdays include deliveries to Charlotte Amalie (Barefoot Buddha) and St. John (Gifft Hill School). We still have a lot of memberships available for the summer season. Please consider joining the CSA, and please pass along the word to a friend. Payment plans are available, and shorter season memberships and share sharing options are also available to make it easy! Registration and more info is at: http://www.ridge2reef.org/csa-registration-page.html

We thank you for your continued support of local, organic farming!

V.I. Locally Grown Market: Week of April 20, 2014

Good Morning and Happy Easter!

Celebrate spring and renewal by filling your house with flowers! Both Bijou Farm and Mt. Victory Camp offer gorgeous tropical blooms, by the stem or bouquet.

If you plan on grilling on the beach in the coming week, remember to pack some veggies! Chef Tahirah’s Island Delight Vegan Burgers are wonderful whether or not you eat meat, and RaS Sonrise Daughter Stand Farm has a truly fantastic homemade ketchup. Why not try some of Ridge to Reef’s Kimchee or Queen CaribBee’s Tomato/Papaya Chutney to make your burger gourmet?

We look forward as always to seeing you on Wednesday in the Polly’s Courtyard!

With warm wishes,
Emma Haynes & Your Locally Grown Producers
