I’m located on 4 1/2 acres of what had been a sugar, then cattle, plantation. I live in the 220 year old historic house and farm about 1 1/2 acres. As a retired mature woman I am developing a sustainable diverse farm, trying different crops and methods. My primary crop is tropical flowers(cut and plants), but I also have herbs (especially basil), bananas and plantain, citrus, sorrel and different short crops, like greens, tomatoes, peppers, etc. I am not certified organic, but I use organic procedures; I belong to the VI Farmers Co-op which is going through the organic certification for members at its base farm; those on our own farms follow their procedures and have access to training, organic fertilizers and pesticides.
