VI Locally Grown - New crops and Bush Skills this weekend

Hello Food Friends!

We have received feedback that our order list within the main email is far too long and a turn-off for some customers, so please notice that we will not be using that option now so you can just visit http://vi.locallygrown.net/market to shop easier and we’ll save the space in your inbox. Thanks for the feedback and continued support! We have a new grower in the market this week… Mary Anne’s garden! She has an impressive assortment of foods and products, and has been at this her entire life and has a lot of high quality organically grown products! Welcome Mary! http://vi.locallygrown.net/growers/show/3915 Finally, this weekend is the annual Bush Skills Caribbean Rendezvous. Come to learn about herbs from Veronica Gordon, bamboo from Jo Sheer, Fiber craft from Snow Bear, Bush Chef (Sunday) Cooking from the VI Olympic team master chef Theo Gumbs! More info at: http://www.visfi.org/caribbean-bushskills-rendezvous-2011/

Enjoy your week of local food and crafts! The market is open for another few hours, see you tomorrow.

PS also find our open market at Miriam’s in C-sted on Sundays, 4-5:30pm.

Good medicine,
Nate

VI Locally Grown - Chef Kaza at Slow Down and CSA!

Hello VI Locally Grown members!

Please take a look at all the items available and do your shopping with us this week. Not only is our food the most safe, tasty, and nutritional available in the territory, it is also some of the most affordable. This week’s price comparison: Organic, free range eggs. The major import supermarket price: $5.99. Our price, for free range hens you can meet? $6. Ask yourself, is it worth an extra penny to shop local and organic and keep the rest of the money in your community? Also, check out Ridge to Reef Farm’s newest creation, the Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program. Buy a season’s share and get a box stuffed with produce every week for your daily needs! http://www.visfi.org/growers-market/ Finally, Chef Negust Kaza, champion of the Taste of the Caribbean, will cook a special on-farm dinner this Sunday at Ridge to Reef Farm. Make your reservations today before they are all gone, right here on VI.locallygrown.net

all the best in love and health,

Nate

Sunny Sunday Morning!

Good Morning VI Locally Grown members!

Another beautiful Sunday morning here on the St Criox.
I hope all of you are enjoying your time, and enjoying the wonders of the island.

The market is open and ready with some great products available.

*Any persons who wish to donate egg cartons to the Market are more than welcome to do so. The chickens have been laying plenty these days, and we find our self in a shortage of these items.

As always breath easy and enjoy your moments!

Patrick Boulger

Market is still open!

Good afternoon VI Locally Grown members!

The Market is still open, with plenty of products.
Make sure you get a good look before it closes tomorrow at 7pm.

The new year has brought upon nice drier weather with some small showers to help keep the crops watered.
Looks like 2012 is off to a great start.

See you at Market!

Happy New Year

Hello Vi Locally Grown Members.
I hope you all had a wonderful New years eve, spent with friends and family.

Todays market was opened late today due to some technical difficulties. All is well though and we are set to start off 2012 with a Bang!

The Market has plenty to offer at this moment, and as we move out of our short/wet days and into some prime growing months, much more will be available.

Thank you all for the continued support in this Locall Market. Your participation is regenerating wealth and heath for this beautiful island and its amazing farmers.

Happy New Year!

Dry Ground

Good Morning VI Locally Grown Members!

It Looks like Mother Nature has spared us from her rain long enough for the ground to dry. The puddles are disappearing around the farm. It looks like we can get our machines out on the land and really start seeding the not so far future meals for you and your family. Lets just hope the rain doesn’t stay away for to long!

We have some great products still available on the market before it closes today at 7 pm.

Last week RAS Sonrise and Duaghter Farm Stand as well as, Bijou Farm brought a wonderful display of veggies and processed goods. For example hand made wines, candles, jellies, jams, hot sauces etc.

So come on down even if you didn’t catch the Market times, you can still get some goods during the pick up at Polly’s between 3:30 and 5:30 on Wednesday.

See you at Polly’s

PS thank you all for the wonderful support these past couple of weeks during the hardship of Ellen’s passing. A big thank you from the all at the farm!

Giving thanks.
